South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol left Seoul for Paris on Monday to support Expo 2030 and meet with the leaders of France and Vietnam, his office said.
Yoon will push South Korea’s bid during the BIE’s general assembly. June 20-21 is the gathering.
Riyadh, Rome, and Odesa compete with Busan in southeastern South Korea for the worldwide event. November will determine the 2030 expo host.
Macron will meet Yoon on Tuesday.
The two leaders met in Madrid in June 2022 during a NATO summit and decided to deepen space and nuclear energy cooperation.
His office said Yoon and a 205-person business delegation would visit Vietnam on Thursday for a three-day state visit.
Since gaining office, Yoon, who considers himself “the No. 1 salesman” for South Korea, has focused on business transactions and “sales diplomacy” abroad.
“It will be the largest business delegation since the launch of the Yoon Suk Yeol administration,” said Senior presidential secretary for Economy Choi Sang-mok on Tuesday.
