Xbox marketing chief leaves for Roblox

Xbox’s marketing chief is departing to join Roblox as their chief marketing officer as part of a larger marketing shakeup at Microsoft.
According to Microsoft gaming CEO Phil Spencer’s memo, Jerret West led various marketing campaigns for games and systems and helped expand

West had eight years in Xbox’s marketing and product division before joining Netflix to lead marketing teams. Xbox’s CMO returned to Microsoft in 2019.
Microsoft conducted its annual Xbox titles Showcase this month, unveiling new all-digital systems and trailers for titles like “Call of Duty” to boost consumer interest amid industry spending slump.

West’s departure coincides with Xbox’s marketing department’s restructuring, which will create a core game marketing team and relocate other departments.

“Going forward, the Gaming Leadership Team and I have decided to place marketing closer to the businesses they support,” Spencer wrote in a message.
Microsoft combined teams and closed several gaming studios in May, including Arkane Austin, to minimize costs.
