Family members prayed and honored Patricia Portillo and Brayan Godoy.
On Saturday, people gathered outside a closed Las Colinas Chick-fil-A to memorialize two employees who were murdered on Wednesday.
Family and friends of Patricia Portillo and Brayan Godoy placed flowers at the restaurant’s entrance sign and prayed.
Prisoner Oved Argueta is suspected of the shooting.
Hugs, tears, and prayers for Portillo and Godoy memorialized grief.
“It’s hard to understand what happened because he was with us one day and not the next,” said Jackeline Ortiz.
Godoy lived with Ortiz and her family for a year.
His destiny brought him to us from Guatemala a few years ago. His video chats, messages, and everything made us part of his family, she added.
He strived to be active despite his poor circumstances to improve himself and provide his family a better life, Ortiz added.
Monserrat, her daughter, stated Godoy was kind and amusing. He accompanied her and her newborn to their appointment while her husband worked the day he died.
“He helped me bring all my stuff in the car, he helped me load her in,” he claimed.
He departed for work right after bringing her home.
I said, ‘Oh, I hope you have a good day.’ She mentioned this happened regretfully.
Saturday was the Ortiz’s first visit to Godoy’s grave.
I don’t believe it. A dreamlike feeling. Like a nightmare “Monserrat explained.
She stated her spouse couldn’t come due to work but requested her to send a message.
“He told me, ‘Can you go in my place and just say that I’m sorry that this happened to him?’” she cried.
Ortiz wants justice for Godoy and Portillo, who left a pregnant daughter and grandson.
“It’s impossible to imagine how things will go from here,” Monserrat added.
Families of both victims have raised money for funerals and other expenses.
