On Friday, the U.S. Commerce Department placed 42 Chinese businesses on a federal export restriction list to support Moscow’s military and defense industrial base, including delivering Russian sector U.S.-origin integrated circuits.
Another seven Finnish, German, Indian, Turkish, UAE, and U.K. companies were added to the trade export control list.
The Commerce Department said the circuits contain microelectronics Russia utilizes for precise guidance systems in missiles and drones targeting civilian targets in Ukraine.
“Today’s Entity List additions send a clear message:
if you supply the Russian defense sector with U.S.-origin technology, we will find out and act,” said Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement Matthew Axelrod.
As the Russian invasion of Ukraine enters its second year, a Russian missile strike in a northe”stern Ukrainian hamlet on Thursday killed at least 52 people in one of the worst strikes in 20 months.
Washington adds companies to the U.S. Entity List if they threaten national security or foreign policy. Suppliers must get difficult licenses before sending items to list companies.
The Chinese embassy in Washington did not reply to a request for comment.
