In a joint declaration, the U.S., Japan, and South Korea proposed regularizing missile defense and anti-submarine drills to address North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats.
The joint statement claimed the declaration was made during Friday’s 13th Defence Trilateral Talks in Washington, D.C., to discuss the Korean Peninsula’s security and trilateral security cooperation.
“We urge the DPRK to stop all destabilizing activities immediately” and “reaffirm that a DPRK nuclear test, if conducted, would be met with a strong and resolute response from the international community,” the three nations stated.
North Korea said on Friday that it had tested a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that would “radically promote” its forces and allow missile launches with little notice.
