Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the United Nations, described himself as “horrified” by the hundreds of victims of Tuesday’s attack on a Gaza hospital. Guterres said on Wednesday that he had appealed to Israel and Hamas for the immediate, unconditional release of captives and for Israel to permit urgent, unfettered access to humanitarian aid for Gaza before departing for the Chinese capital to attend the Belt and Road Forum.

He also emphasized the importance of promoting adequate debt relief procedures to prevent participating nations in the Belt and Road initiative from being trapped in unmanageable debt.

The Gaza hospital bomb victims urgently require medical care, housing, and support. The world community must unite to deliver prompt humanitarian relief to those afflicted. This includes aid for the displaced, food, clean drinking water, and medical supplies.

The UN must play a crucial part in resolving this issue. The international body is anticipated to exert diplomatic pressure to encourage talks and a truce between the opposing sides. The UN should also make it easier for humanitarian supplies to reach Gaza’s victims.

To sum up, the Gaza hospital explosion is a sobering reminder of the continued suffering in the Middle East; we offer our condolences to the victims and support the Gazan people. The international community must work together to stop the bloodshed and find a long-term, peaceful resolution to the Israel-Palestine problem.
