Uki Dean is a businessman as well as an experienced entrepreneur. He founded Bermies in 2016, which has its headquarters in Miami. The company manufactures affordable swimwear for everyone.

Apart from Bermies, Uki Dean is also the founder of PlantArg, a company that has its headquarters in Argentina. The company works on maintaining a clean natural environment by protecting forests. In addition, he yearns to have a positive impact on climate change. Uki Dean and his team use blockchain technology to trace companies emitting carbon into the atmosphere at the company.

I am a proud alumnus of Duke and South California University. From 2009-to 2013, I studied for my bachelor’s in Arts and Marketing & Management. I enjoyed my life on campus because I was an active member of several clubs. During my last semester, I decided to join the School of Cinematic Arts at South California University for six months course. For sure, all these sills I gathered have helped me.’

In 2012, Duke University offered me a position within the school. I became the Marketing assistant at the school’s RFC. My role was to implement multi-media programs and enhance new marketing skills. One year later, I joined Intelliroof as an Energy Consultant. That’s where I learned about energy-efficient methods. It was a very ambitious startup, and everyone was growing.

A few months later, Adecoagro approached me for a position in Investor Relations. I maintained the company’s relation plans and incorporation of any investor. In addition, I prepared annual reports, earnings, press releases, and any external ceremony that was to take place. It was fun because I go to work with smart brains.

After quitting Adecoagro, I went direct to work on my project. I love visiting new places like the beach. Adventure is my hobby. So, I wanted to get the best pair of swim trunks from the market, but I could not secure a fitting on. Additionally, most available products were too expensive for an average person to afford. That’s how I identified a gap in the market.

I set up my company in 2016 with a team of 10 people. My swimwear brand got into the market, and we were amazed at the sales. Some months passed, and I secured a position to present my business on Shark Tank, Season 9 Episode 24. It was very interesting talking to investors. I wanted to sell the company’s 20% shares to one of the Shark Tank investors at $200K to fund my company. However, the deal was not successful.

I took loans from my relatives and my savings to run my company. Although it was tough, I managed to utilize the available resources. I remember being shirtless with my pair of swimwear at the Sharks interview. Most of the sharks envied my enthusiastic energy, but some said I was scattered and unfocused. I felt bad, but it is okay to accept.

I have managed to run Bermies for six years and am proud of our achievement. Yearly, there is an increase in revenue. Unfortunately, the pandemic affected the sales, but we have recovered.

In 2021, the pandemic messed up with employment. A lot of people lost their jobs as most countries were under lockdown. So I decided to use the opportunity to work on another long-term project.

That’s when I launched PlantArg with my fellow friends. We are a self-driven company that focuses on the natural environment. Although I have little technical knowledge, my team is very skilled. I have talent on board who use blockchain technology to track the emission of harmful gases. I am also learning to use blockchain technology. We all hear about cryptocurrency. That is the future. It’s a subset of blockchain.
