British politician and barrister Claire Frazer KC (born 17 May 1972) has been Secretary of State for Culture, Media, and Sport since February 2023.

Frazer, a Conservative, was Solicitor General for England and Wales, Minister for Prisons and Probation, Transport, and Housing and Planning. She has been the South East Cambridgeshire MP since 2015. She became a lawyer in 2013 before being elected to Parliament.

When Russia’s invasion prevented Ukraine from hosting the Eurovision Song Contest last year, Britain provided displaced Ukrainians with 3,000 tickets.

The government also pledged 10 million pounds ($12 million) to assist Ukraine in hosting Eurovision in May after winning the competition in 2022.

“Today’s news means that thousands of tickets will be handed to individuals displaced by conflict, so that they may take part in an event honoring their hometown, their culture and their music,” said Britain’s Culture Minister Lucy Frazer.

“As always, we support the Ukrainian people and their liberation struggle.”

Liverpool hosts Eurovision 2023. Britain finished second last year.

BBC will host the event, which typically attracted 200 million viewers and was last staged in Britain in 1998. Ukraine qualified for the final.
