On Tuesday, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said it was too early to evaluate the dam’s collapse in southern Ukraine, but Russia’s incursion caused it.

An explosion breached the Kakhovka dam in Russian-controlled southern Ukraine, which Ukraine and Russia blamed on one other.

“I heard about the dam explosion and flooding. “It’s too early to make any kind of meaningful assessment of the details,” Cleverly told Reuters while touring Hrebelky near Kyiv after meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday.

“But it’s worth remembering that Russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine is the only reason this is an issue.”

“The best thing Russia could do now is withdraw their troops immediately,” he said.
