Twitter to delete inactive accounts and archive them. CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Monday that Twitter Inc. will delete dormant accounts after many years, calling it “important to free up abandoned handles.”

Musk tweeted that inactive accounts will be archived, although he didn’t say when.
Twitter’s archived account access was unclear.

Musk also suggested numerous dormant accounts may be terminated from the micro-blogging network, reducing followers.

To avoid permanent removal due to inactivity, Twitter users must log in at least once every 30 days.

After National Public Radio ceased publishing to its 52 official Twitter channels in protest of a Twitter label that indicated government participation in its editorial content, Musk “threatened” to reassign the account to another corporation earlier this month.

Celebrities, journalists, and politicians lost their verified blue ticks on Twitter last month.

Musk added account verification to Twitter Blue to combat bot accounts.
