As the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges for a 2016 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, Trump will be fingerprinted and photographed in a New York courthouse next week.

Trump’s scheduled Manhattan court appearance on Tuesday might exacerbate U.S. differences as the Republican seeks reelection. In a letter unsealed Friday, a New York court permitted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, to reveal that Trump had been indicted. Still, it was unclear when the allegations would be revealed.

According to a source, Trump will travel from Mar-a-Lago to New York on Monday and stay at Trump Tower before appearing in court early on Tuesday. After that, the insider indicated Trump would return to Florida.

Trump’s attorney Susan Necheles told Reuters he would plead not guilty. Necheles expected the charges to be disclosed Tuesday.

“I am not frightened of what’s to come,” Trump declared in a Friday fundraising email.

For over two weeks, Trump has used his legal woes to rally fans and collect money as he pursues his party’s nomination to oppose Democratic President Joe Biden in a 2020 rematch. His campaign reported raising over $4 million 24 hours after his Manhattan grand jury indictment.

The first American president to try to overthrow an electoral setback, prompting the fatal 2021 assault on the U.S. Capitol, has said he would run again.

“I’m not going to comment about Trump’s indictment,” Biden said Friday.

Trump proclaimed himself “totally innocent” and a victim of political persecution after the indictment on Thursday.

Trump attacked Justice Juan Merchan, the case’s judge, on Friday. Trump tweeted that Merchan, who presided over last year’s trial in which his real estate business was convicted of tax evasion, “HATES ME” and treated the Trump Organization “VICIOUSLY.” The Bragg-handled case did not charge Trump.

CNN claimed that Trump faced over 30 corporate fraud accusations, while the Associated Press reported at least one criminal prosecution.

Joseph Tacopina, another Trump lawyer, said Trump would not be handcuffed in court and would likely be freed without bond.

“He’ll fight. He’s preparing, “Phone interview with Tacopina.

Legal experts say any trial is at least a year away and might come during or after the presidential campaign.
