Former President Donald Trump’s 2024 White House campaign reported raising $7 million since being indicted on federal charges last week. His message of political persecution continues to connect with die-hard fans.

“President Trump Raises Over $6.6 Million and Counting Since Deranged Jack Smith Announced Political Prosecution,” Trump’s team emailed supporters on Wednesday.
Digital fundraising raised $4.5 million, and a Tuesday donor luncheon at Trump’s Bedminster Club in New Jersey raised $2.1 million.

Since Thursday’s indictment, Trump’s spokeswoman told Reuters that fundraising had exceeded $7 million.

After leaving the White House and plotting to hinder a federal investigation, Trump was charged with retaining confidential government materials.
Trump pled not guilty to all 37 charges in court on Tuesday.

He has portrayed the claims as a Democratic-led attempt to knock him out of the 2024 race and damage Republicans, 30% of whom are staunch Trump supporters.

“They’re not coming after me, they’re coming after YOU,” Trump said in one of his fundraising letters on Wednesday.

Polling suggests Trump’s tactic is working: A Monday Reuters/Ipsos poll found 81% of Republicans feel the allegations are politically motivated.

New York hush money accusations helped Trump raise money. Senior adviser Jason Miller said that Trump’s team raised $7 million three days after the March charge announcement.

According to Reuters, a group supporting Trump’s Republican nomination sets records for early political spending in a U.S. presidential campaign.
