Trump pledges to probe prosecutors, calls Biden chaos. On Thursday, Donald Trump claimed that if he wins the 2024 presidential election, he will force the Justice Department to investigate “radical” county and state prosecutors accused of targeting conservatives without proof.

The former president, who faces numerous criminal investigations, said prosecutors were “persecuting conservatives” in a campaign address and discussed his policy beliefs and personal complaints.

“On day one of my new administration, I will direct the DOJ to investigate every radical district attorney and attorney general in America for their illegal, racist… enforcement of the law,” Trump told over 1,000 fans in Manchester, future Hampshire.

Trump faces at least four criminal investigations, including a federal examination into his alleged complicity in his supporters’ Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and a recent New York prosecution for hush money to a porn actress. Trump denies wrongdoing and calls the inquiries politicized.

Trump’s authoritarian campaign rhetoric calls for federal inquiries of prosecutors. On Thursday, he called for a “truth and reconciliation commission” to overhaul the federal bureaucracy.

Trump reframed the decision between him and President Joe Biden. Two days ago, Democrat Biden started his re-election campaign with a video vowing to defend personal liberties from “extremists” tied to the previous Republican president.

Trump called the U.S. a “failing nation” after Thursday’s economic statistics showed a sharp slowdown in the first three months of 2023.

“The choice in this election is now between strength or weakness, success or failure, safety or anarchy, peace or conflict, and prosperity or catastrophe,” Trump stated.

Trump assumes he and Biden will win their parties’ selections. Trump flies to New Hampshire to win the early nominating state as he consolidates his Republican nomination support.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted April 21-24 found that self-identified Republicans preferred the former president over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, 49% to 23%.

Trump garnered cheers as he wandered across the stage, appearing lost, suggesting he may rekindle a 2020 campaign theme of portraying Biden as ancient and infirm.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, cleared Biden for duty in February. Biden, 80, is the oldest president. 76-year-old Trump.

Trump falsely claimed on Thursday that Democrats used massive fraud to defeat him in 2020.
