Trump goes back to X with a two-hour chat with Elon Musk that is bogged down by technology.

In 2023, Trump shared a picture of himself being booked into a Georgia jail. That was the last time he wrote on the site.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee and past president of the United States, returned to the social media site X to try to get back on track after a rough couple of weeks on the campaign trail.

To celebrate, he had a chat on Spaces with Elon Musk, the owner of the platform, on Monday. Musk has publicly backed Trump’s bid for re-election.

The discussion didn’t start for about 40 minutes because Musk said there was a “massive” cyberattack on the site, which used to be called Twitter. He said there would only be a small group of people there and that a recording would be shown later.

The two men had a long, rambling conversation that went on for almost two hours. They talked about Kamala Harris, Trump’s Democratic opponent, the EU, China, climate change, censorship, migration, and more. The Republican used the time to talk at length about some of his favorite topics and say again that he is the target of a political vendetta. Musk, on the other hand, said many times that he supports Trump.

Musk told Trump, “It’s essential that you win the election for the sake of the country.” Trump had said that Harris was a “radical left lunatic” and “worse than Bernie Sanders.” About 1.2 million people were there to listen.

In the hours before the interview on Monday, Trump’s team called it “the interview of the century.” He also put up a bunch of campaign videos in which he attacked Harris and warned his supporters about what he saw as threats from the left.

Since Joe Biden dropped out to support Harris, Trump’s campaign has taken a hit. Trump, who is 78 years old, is now the oldest candidate for president.

The vice president and her running mate, Tim Walz, have been to a lot of rallies in recent days to get people excited about the Democratic campaign again. New polls show that she is ahead of Trump in key Midwest battleground states.

The Harris campaign didn’t care about the chat.

In a statement posted on X after Trump and Musk’s meeting, it said, “Trump’s whole campaign is for self-centered rich guys like himself and Elon Musk who will sell out the middle class and can’t run a livestream in 2024.”
