Transport Workers at Southwest Airlines Approve New Labor Contract
Southwest Airlines announced on Thursday that its ramp, operations, provisioning, and cargo agents have ratified a new five-year labor contract. The agreement, covering 18,000 workers represented by the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 555, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing negotiations.
Under the terms of the contract, employees will receive a wage rate of $38 per hour at the top of the pay scale. This figure represents a 6.6% increase over United Airlines’ current industry-leading rate, as previously stated by TWU last month.
