According to a statement released by a spokeswoman on Monday, the small vehicle division of Toyota Motor (7203.T), known as Daihatsu Motor, would reimburse 423 domestic suppliers with direct business contacts. This information comes while the company’s plants in Japan remain idle owing to a safety crisis.
According to a spokeswoman for the company, the tiny vehicle specialist has stopped manufacturing in Japan until the end of the following month.
As an additional point of interest, he mentioned that the company is already trying to evaluate the impact of the suspension on its extensive supplier network and will consider paying suppliers based on previous business volumes.
Following the findings of a safety investigation involving 64 different models, including over twenty-two sold under the Toyota brand, Daihatsu said on Wednesday that it had paused delivering all of its automobiles.
The firm will collaborate with its primary suppliers when dealing with the aftermath of the incident. The spokesman also noted that the company may assist smaller subcontractors who do not get compensation in gaining access to assistance funding from the Ministry of Industry.
Overseas activities for Daihatsu are primarily concentrated in Southeast Asian countries. Following regulatory permission, the company has restarted manufacturing automobiles bearing the Perodua brand at two joint venture factories in conjunction with the Malaysian carmaker Perodua, according to the spokeswoman.
The company, which has Toyota as its sole owner, stated the previous week that PT Astra Daihatsu Motor in Indonesia had started shipments on Friday.
