An email reviewed by Reuters on Thursday said that TikTok Chief Operating Officer V. Pappas is leaving the short-video firm controlled by China’s ByteDance after five years.
In a colleague’s note, Pappas stated they would advise the company during the changeover.
“Given all the successes reached at TikTok, I finally feel the time is right to move on and refocus on my entrepreneurial passions,” said Pappas, who uses them.
In a note to staff seen with Reuters, ByteDance CEO Shou Chew revealed that Zenia Mucha, a 20-year Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) veteran, will join TikTok as chief brand and communications officer.
Chew said that TikTok’s chief of staff, Adam Presser, will lead content, user operations, and distribution.
Due to its Chinese ownership, TikTok has faced global security worries.
U.S. lawmakers submitted new legislation this week to shield Americans’ user data from U.S. foes.
