Ryan Gosling says he would want to see a franchise begin with his forthcoming Netflix film The Gray Man since he liked producing it so much.
Ryan Gosling says he’d be willing to make a franchise out of his next Netflix film, The Gray Man. The Gray Man, a Netflix original film based on the Mark Greaney novel series of the same name, teams Ryan Gosling with directors Anthony and Joe Russo. The movie follows former CIA agent Court Gentry, also known as Sierra Six, who discovers dark agency secrets and ends up running from his psychotic ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) and a slew of assassins.
While there are many unanswered questions regarding the upcoming action movie, Netflix’s 2022 Movie Preview video unveiled the first glimpse of the much-awaited production. The video shows Gosling fending off assailants while perched on a moving streetcar. It also offers viewers their first glimpse of Evans’ mustachioed nemesis. In addition, the supporting cast of The Gray Man, which includes Regé-Jean Page as Carmichael and Ana de Armas as Dani Miranda, can also be seen for the first time in recently released promotional photographs.

Gosling says he had a great time making The Gray Man and would be intrigued to see the movie start a Netflix franchise in a new interview with Empire. The actor jokes that he’d want to get Sierra Six “up to a name status at some point” and says he’d be keen for a better sequel to develop his character. See Gosling’s exact remark down below:
“
I loved making this film. I’d love to do it again. I’m hoping we can bump Six up to a name status at some point, just for his own sanity.
The Gray Man has yet even to have a trailer released to the public, but it’s obvious that Ryan Gosling is hoping the movie will be successful enough to warrant a sequel. With a budget of a remarkable $200 million (equaling that of Red Notice), The Gray Man is one of Netflix’s most costly original films to date, indicating that the streaming service is also betting on the film’s success. Gosling’s remarks don’t say much about the movie itself, but his desire to give his character “name status” suggests that he won’t always be addressed by his own name, Court Gentry, but rather by his code name Sierra Six.
It’s unclear how Netflix will change its original programming schedule going forward in light of the latest announcement of membership loss (which is predicted to continue throughout the year). Both in front of and behind the camera, The Gray Man features some great talent, but the film’s enormous budget may harm its chances of getting a sequel—at least one done on the same scale. Although it’s uncertain if Gosling will realize his dream for The Gray Man to become a franchise, a sequel is definitely possible if it proves successful enough for Netflix when it debuts on July 15.
