So recently a political competitor and vehement critic of former President Donald Trump, Haley may have been talking about herself.
Haley reversed course on the second night of the convention in Milwaukee, less than 24 hours after a top union leader denounced corporate America in the same hall, pledging her support for Trump and suggesting that those concerned about his return to power consider President Joe Biden. As the GOP and Trump’s campaign tried to smooth over the former president’s flaws, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, and grieving parents shared their stories.
First off, I strongly support Donald Trump. At the start of her address, Haley dispelled any doubts and warmed up a slightly chilly gathering.
Haley’s speech a night after Trump’s nomination, effectively ended the 2024 GOP primary campaign’s resistance. She was the anomaly when it came to backing Trump without endorsing his policies.
All the other speakers praised the former president as a selfless leader who brought America to its zenith only to see it undone by Biden’s feckless leadership. Former enemies lined forward to congratulate Trump, own their mistakes, and assure voters that Trump’s first term was moderate compared to the prospect of another.
