Until Thursday, Fox News never had a female CEO. That all changed as Suzanne Scott made history to lead one of the major news channels in the nation.
The highly revered promotion is definitely deserved, as Scott has been doing a spectacular job at Fox News. Before her promotion, Scott was the president of programming, where she led and managed opinion shows like “Fox & Friends” and “The Ingraham Angle.”
Her second in command will be Jay Wallace, who was the president of news, where he led and managed programs like “Special Report.” And although Jack Abernethy, the leader of business operations, will be leaving to Los Angeles to head Fox Television Stations Group, those three were the trifecta that helped rebound Fox from the drama from its previous CEO.
Moreover, former CEO Roger Ailes was forced to resign from the position after sexual harassment allegations arose in 2016 and caused Fox News to lose some of its audience. Ailes later died in May 2017.
Both Scott and Wallace will report to Rupert Murdoch, the executive chairman of Fox News. His son Lachlan will be the CEO of Fox’s new venture called “New Fox,” which will contain Fox News, Fox Sports, broadcasting, and local news stations. Consequently, Scott will report to both Lachlan and Rupert Murdoch.
After scandal clouded the major news channel, things are looking up for Fox News. With new management, a new strategy, and a new direction, it seems that they are eager and able to leave the drama surrounding Ailes in the past.
