Atos (ATOS.PA), a struggling French IT company, announced a management reorganization on Wednesday and named Yves Bernaert its third CEO in less than two years. Atos chose Nourdine Bihmane in July 2022 to fill the position of CEO, which had been left vacant a month earlier by outgoing CEO Rodolphe Belmer, who had only served in the position for six months.
According to Atos, Bernaert has been serving as CEO of Europe for Accenture Technology for the previous nine years and has been appointed with immediate effect.
Early in August 2023, the firm announced that Daniel Kretinsky, a Czech billionaire, was discussing purchasing its loss-making legacy operations for 2 billion euros ($2.10 billion). This acquisition would allow the ailing French company to refocus on its cybersecurity and cloud assets and reduce its debt.
However, the spokeswoman for the billionaire claimed two days later that Kretinsky would continue to be “passive” and a “minority shareholder” in response to worries expressed by some parliamentarians over French nuclear deterrence capability.
In a statement outlining its management reorganization, Atos stated on Wednesday that Bihmane, who served as the organization’s co-CEO, will assume the role of deputy CEO while continuing to oversee the Tech Foundations division.
According to the firm, Philippe Oliva, who joined the organization in June 2022 as deputy CEO of the newly formed SpinCo (Evidian)’s Digital/BDS perimeter, has decided to quit Atos.
The value of the shares has decreased by more than 3% this year. Over 90% of them have decreased after November 2020.
