Local sources reported at least one Russian missile hit a popular street in Kherson, southern Ukraine, on Tuesday, killing six people as President Putin gave a speech marking a year of conflict in Ukraine.
According to Reuters, Ukraine’s military and local officials reported 12 wounded in the incident, which left a pool of blood on the sidewalk next to a bus stop.
The bomb destroyed a row of shopfronts behind the bus stop, electricity wires, and windows on the other side of the street.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has previously released street corpse photos.
“It’s pretty terrifying,” Viktoria, a lady waiting for a bus, told Reuters. They shoot near us too.”
While the Russian president spoke, Kherson was hit by numerous rocket launchers.
The Ukrainian military reported 20 missiles were launched toward Kherson, but Russia did not immediately reply.
Russia denies targeting people in its “special military operation,” yet missile and drone assaults have destroyed Ukrainian cities and killed thousands of civilians.
“Kherson is bombarded by Russia. Again murdering civilians, “Zelenskiy used Telegram.
“The world should never forget that Russian brutality and aggressiveness are limitless.”
After eight months of Russian control, Ukraine recovered Kherson in November, forcing Moscow to relinquish its sole regional capital since invading Ukraine on Feb. 24.
Russian soldiers across the Dnipro River are constantly bombarding Kherson and neighboring regions.
