On Monday, Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu visited Russian troops involved in the military operation in Ukraine, RIA reported.

RIA’s story, citing Russia’s defense ministry, confirmed Shoigu’s leadership but did not specify when and where he met with Western military district troops and commanders.

Mutineers commanded by Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin moved on Moscow to overthrow Russia’s corrupt and incompetent military leadership before retreating to eastern Ukraine after a deal with the Kremlin arranged by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

The mutineers received immunity in exchange for returning to camps, but it is unclear if Putin agreed to replace the military command or make other concessions.
