On Monday, Russia’s defense ministry said that its midnight missile attacks on Ukrainian military locations, including arms depots and ammunition makers, had struck all their objectives.
Ukrainian officials claimed the second air attack in three days ignited a fire in Pavlohrad, a railway hub behind the southern and eastern fronts, hurting at least 34 people and damaging dozens of homes.
“Overnight, Russia’s armed forces launched a group of missile strikes using high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons against Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities,” the Russian defense ministry stated.
“The objectives of the strike were achieved… The work of enterprises making ammunition, weapons, and military equipment for Ukrainian troops has been disrupted,” it stated.
Air raid sirens shielded Kyiv from 15 of 18 Russian cruise missiles.
In its daily briefing, Moscow said Russian troops had advanced in Bakhmut, the ruined eastern Ukrainian city Russia had been trying to seize for months.
A missile killed 23 in an Uman high-rise apartment complex on Friday.
Russia denies injuring anybody since invading Ukraine 14 months ago.
