Russia bombs Kyiv for the 15th time in May. Russia began a new wave of air attacks on Kyiv early on Monday using drones and cruise missiles, with the military administration of the Ukrainian capital stating defense troops shot down more than 40 targets.

Officials said Kyiv suffered no serious damage or casualties in Russia’s 15th air strike on the city in May and the second overnight attack of equal severity.
“Another difficult night for the capital,” remarked Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram.

The heaviest drone barrage on Kyiv the night before killed one and injured several. Thirty-six In addition, drones crashed over Kyiv on Sunday.

The city’s military administration reported Russia attacked Monday with Iranian Shahed drones and cruise missiles.
“With these constant attacks, the enemy seeks to keep the civilian population in deep psychological tension,” said city military administration chief Serhiy Popko on Telegram.

Moscow said nothing about the strikes. Reuters couldn’t independently verify the attacks’ scale.

Reuters witnesses reported several loud blasts as the city and Ukraine were under air raid alerts early Monday.

With a long-promised Ukrainian counteroffensive to reclaim territory gained by Russia in the 15th months of the war, Moscow has upped its strikes on military infrastructure and supplies.

Ukraine seldom claims credit for attacks within Russia, but Moscow has blamed Kyiv for several strikes on military, energy, and transport facilities.
