Russia assaults Ukrainian cities, killing two. According to media and officials, Russia targeted cities from Kyiv to central and southern Ukraine early Friday, killing at least two people.
“A young woman and a three-year-old child have been killed,” Dnipro mayor Borys Filatov stated on Telegram. Filatov didn’t elaborate.
Uman’s central residential complex burned on social media.
Interfax Ukraine and social media reported nationwide explosions and air raid sirens in Kyiv.
Kyiv’s strike and damage were unknown. However, the city’s military administration reported anti-aircraft operations.
After midnight, Interfax reported explosions in Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Poltava, and Mykolaiv.
Interfax reported Telegram messages that mysterious flying objects were also heading west.
The strikes follow a Wednesday phone chat between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The Kremlin indicated it would welcome anything that may stop the violence.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February, the leaders have not talked.
The Kremlin claimed it needed to complete its “special military operation” in Ukraine. So So, Putin invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, to protect Russia.
Ukraine and its Western allies called Putin’s incursion an unprovoked territory grab that sparked Europe’s worst land war since World War Two.
For ten months, the Russian military has struggled to enter Bakhmut, a city of 70,000.
Russia sees Bakhmut as a gateway to other eastern Ukrainian cities, its main military target.
Western-supplied tanks will help Ukrainian forces start their onslaught soon.
