Rolling Stone is proud to present their launch of RollingStoneCountry.com, which will debut this week. The site is entirely about the genre of country music. They will also release a special Country Issue on Jun. 6, this Friday. The issue will have Eric Church and Miranda Lambert on its cover.
On their website, Rolling Stone writes, “So we’re proud to announce the launch of RollingStoneCountry.com, a new website dedicated to the genre – which we’re celebrating in a special issue.” Adding, “It’s a perfect time for it: Now more than ever, music is all mixed up again. Listen to country radio today, and you’ll hear heavy-metal guitar solos, hip-hop rhythms and EDM flourishes alongside pedal steel and twang: Country now encompasses all of American pop, decked out in cowboy boots and filtered through Music Row.”
Eager about her first Rolling Stone cover, Lambert took Josh Eells, contributing editor, to her hometown of Tishmingo, Oklahoma. A small town that Lambert proudly states has a population of 31 hundred. This town holds her Pink Pistol clothing boutique, which has been taking off rapidly, along with her farm which she shares with her hubby, Blake Shelton.
Lambert discussed being one of the country’s hottest celebrity duos, saying, “It was pretty instantaneous. One day we were country singers, and the next we’re on the front of the tabloids. I’m, like, really magical. I’ve been pregnant for two and a half years.”
Lambert revealed that her country song-writing abilities came from her upbringing. At the dinner table, her parents would openly discuss who was drinking, cheating, and who shot whom.
Associate editor Patrick Doyle ate at Church’s Nashville home with his family and followed him to Vegas to see the Stagecoach Festival where Church was headlining. Church spoke about the music that’s currently on the radio: “It’s a little bit shallower than it was a few years ago. It’s Let’s drink, forget our worries, beach, bonfire, lake.”
Church also discussed popular music genres, saying, “Hip-hop has gone down. Rock’s down. People are kidding themselves if they think there’s a bigger format than country. It’s an interesting time.”
