As of Thursday, Uber has laid down the law when it comes to dos and don’ts for its riders and drivers. Some Uber drivers probably could tell you some gruesome horror stories when it comes to past riders. Uber says that the following list of things could lose you a ride with their company:
- Damaging driver’s or other passengers’ property: If you get drunk and vomit, break the drivers or the other passenger’s cell phone or spill your drink you can be denied a ride.
- Physical contact with other riders or the driver: No fighting with other passengers or hitting the driver. Also no flirting with the driver or other passengers. Finally, absolutely no sexual contact with fellow passengers or the driver.
- Use of inappropriate and abusive language and gestures: No disrespectful, sexual, or discriminatory comments or gestures are to be made. No asking personal questions or make verbal threats to the driver or fellow passengers.
- Unwanted contact with the driver or fellow passengers when the trip is over: No calling, texting, or visiting the driver or passenger after the ride has ended. In most countries, your phone number stays anonymous through the Uber app. Therefore, you don’t have to share your personal phone number.
- No breaking the law using Uber: Passengers cannot ask the driver to speed or break any traffic laws. There must be no open alcohol or drugs in the car. No human or drug trafficking will be tolerated.
Uber plans to investigate any inappropriate behavior made. Depending on the nature of the offense made through Uber, such as sexual or illegal activity, your account may be terminated.
