On Tuesday, a Putin loyalist predicted a new world war and a nuclear conflict.
“The world is sick and quite probably on the verge of a new world war,” Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of Putin’s influential security council, told a Moscow conference.
He claimed a new world war was unlikely, but that nuclear conflict was more dangerous than climate change.
Putin calls this decade the most difficult since World War II. He views the Ukraine conflict as an existential struggle against an aggressive and arrogant West and has pledged to defend Russia with any means.
The US and its supporters called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine an imperial territorial grab. Ukraine claims Russian nuclear threats are meant to frighten the West into cutting military aid.
