Primark has decided to expand its business reach into the United States, and many remain intellectually curious as to what fuels the company’s quick international growth. According to Reuters, the discount store left its mark in Europe after offering “fast-changing fashion” for dirt-cheap prices.
The first Primark store is set to open in Boston, Massachusetts toward the end of 2015, according to BBC News. The 70,000 square-foot shop is supposed to be the first of many others that will open along the northeastern side of the U.S. during 2016.
“We’re a volume business. We sell 300 million pairs of socks a year. We sell 150 million T-shirts a year. We don’t have major overheads. We have a very efficient supply chain,” said Breege O’Donoghue, Primark’s business development director, according to Reuters.

The Guardian reported that Primark has been named one of the fastest-growing companies in Western Europe and has over 270 stores in nine different countries. Hence, the move into the United States does not come as a huge surprise, but there are high expectations that it will continue to reap similar success.
“We think we have as differentiated and attractive a proposition in the U.S. as we have in continental Europe and the British Isles. We think we have something special to offer,” said George Weston, ABF chief executive, according to The Guardian.
The Primark officials are looking forward from hesitations regarding competing businesses in the U.S. The grand opening might be the start of something huge. Until then, however, all American customers can cross their fingers for the upcoming retail rendezvous.
