Premier Li Qiang encouraged China and Europe to “rise above differences” and develop “creative solutions” at a Paris meeting on Friday to address global issues like climate change and poverty.
“China will unequivocally reject trade protectionism and all forms of decoupling and severing of supply chains,” Li said on the summit’s final day, adding that China would continue to support developing nations.
The summit sought to reduce the debt of vulnerable nations and free up billions of dollars for climate finance.
“China is ready to be engaged in debt relief efforts in an effective, realistic, and comprehensive manner in keeping with the principle of fair burden sharing,” Li added.
During the meeting, Zambia agreed to restructure $6.3 billion in debt to China, its largest official creditor.
