Philippine TikTok removed almost 4.5 million videos for community standards violations. According to the social media company, in the second quarter of 2023, TikTok removed more than 4.5 million videos in the Philippines for breaching its community standards.

TikTok stated in their most recent Community Guidelines Enforcement Report that they have deleted 4,596,796 videos from their site between the months of April and June due to violations of their policies.

Over ninety-two percent of these were taken down before they were even viewed, and the remaining 96,3 percent were taken down within twenty-three hours.

During the months of April through June, the social media firm amassed more than 106 million views all around the world. The automated process eliminated around 66 million of them. Six million videos out of the total number that were deleted were reinstated.

According to TikTok, 39 percent of videos that were banned internationally were judged to have adult or sensitive subject matter. Twenty-eight percent of the accounts were terminated for breaking the regulations pertaining to the sale of regulated goods and other commercial activities, while 14.5% of the accounts were terminated for breaking the rules pertaining to safety and decency.

In the meantime, ten percent were taken out because of the potential harm they may do to the viewers’ mental health.

The community standards for TikTok strictly forbid users from posting anything that might potentially endanger the emotional, physical, or developmental health of children and teenagers in any way, including the risk of exploitation or the potential for violence.
