Pentagon Announces Approval of Aircraft Support Sale to Iraq by US

The U.S. State Department has given the green light for the potential sale of aircraft contractor logistics support and training to Iraq, a deal estimated to be worth $140 million, as announced by the Pentagon on Monday.

This approval covers the provision of training and support services for Iraq’s C-172 and AC/RC-208 aircraft fleet, aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Iraqi military. The Pentagon specified that Northrop Grumman Corporation would serve as the principal contractor for this project.

The proposed sale underscores the United States’ commitment to supporting Iraq in bolstering its defense capabilities and enhancing its national security infrastructure. It represents a strategic partnership aimed at promoting stability and security in the region by empowering Iraq to counter emerging threats and challenges effectively.

The logistics support and training services offered under this arrangement will equip Iraqi forces with the necessary skills and resources to operate and maintain their aircraft fleet efficiently. By strengthening Iraq’s aviation capabilities, the United States aims to contribute to the country’s efforts in safeguarding its borders, combating terrorism, and maintaining regional stability.

Overall, the approval of this potential sale highlights the continued cooperation between the United States and Iraq in advancing shared security objectives and underscores the importance of international partnerships in addressing global security challenges.
