Paris shooting: Second night of unrest after cops murder teen. After the traffic stop death of a 17-year-old kid in Nanterre, protesters launched fireworks at police and burned automobiles on Wednesday.

The ethnically varied suburbs of France’s main cities have a deep-rooted view of police violence after police officers killed the North African boy.
As fireworks exploded near police lines on Nanterre’s Avenue Pablo Picasso before midnight, overturned vehicles ignited.

A police spokeswoman claimed protestors battled with police in Lille, Toulouse, Amiens, Dijon, and the Essonne administrative area south of Paris.

French media reported occurrences in many other Paris-area places. Social media videos revealed dozens of fireworks directed at Montreuil town hall, east of Paris.
Macron called the attack “unexplainable and inexcusable” earlier.

The officer who shot the youth is under investigation for voluntary homicide. He disobeyed a stop-car order, prosecutors said.

The interior ministry has requested calm and mobilized 2,000 Paris-area police.

Macron denies pervasive racism in French law enforcement.

A Reuters-verified video shows two police officers beside a Mercedes AMG, with one shooting at the driver as the car drove away. The prosecutor stated he died shortly after.

“A police officer killed a 17-year-old,” the video shows. “The shooting is illegal,” claimed family lawyer Yassine Bouzrou.

At a minute’s silence in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne stated the shooting “seems clearly not to comply with the rules.”

The lawyer stated the family sued the officers for homicide, cooperation, and false testimony.

The victim’s mother called for a Thursday Nanterre memorial march on TikTok. “Everyone come, we will lead a revolt for my son,” she stated.
