The Palestinian health ministry claimed Israeli soldiers murdered a youngster in a military operation in Jericho on Monday.
The ministry reported head, chest, and abdominal gunshot wounds to 15-year-old Mohammad Balhan.
The Israeli soldiers arrested Palestinians for attacking Jews in the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp outside Jericho.
The military stated that during the operation, suspects opened fire and threw bombs at its forces, who reacted with live fire and struck several of them, but no soldiers were injured.
This year, Israeli military incursions and settler violence in the occupied West Bank have increased amid Palestinian assaults. Since January, over 90 Palestinians and 18 Israelis, and tourists have died.
During Israeli police raids on the Al-Aqsa mosque complex last week, rocket assaults on Israel were greeted by Israeli strikes in Gaza, south Lebanon, and Syria, raising tensions.
One eyewitness observed individuals throwing rocks at the troops following the camp attack.
“I witnessed armed personnel and people hurling stones,” claimed the teen’s father, Fayez Balhan.
After transporting another wounded individual to an ambulance, the father found his son on the ground.
“They shot him in the head,” the teen’s aunt Maysoon cried to Reuters. “Our people’s fate? Our fate?”
The Palestinian Prisoners Association reported two Israeli military arrests.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh began the weekly cabinet session by calling the world to make Israel accountable for its daily crimes.
In another region of the West Bank, hundreds of Israelis, including ministers, marched toward the evacuated outpost of Evyatar to promote settlement development.
Palestinians demand an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza, which Israel occupied in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Since 2014, U.S.-sponsored statehood discussions have stagnated as Israeli settlements have grown, which Palestinians claim has hurt the possibility of a viable state.
