AI lab OpenAI announced the GPT Store, a marketplace for customized AI apps, in a blog post on Wednesday. Situated inside the well-known ChatGPT chatbot, the GPT Store allows users to find and create GPTs or artificial intelligence programs tailored for specific purposes like creating stickers or teaching arithmetic.
With its capacity to produce human-like writing and poetry, ChatGPT stunned users last year and became the first example of generative AI. This is OpenAI’s attempt to expand on that achievement. After the novelty of the chatbot wore off and some schools were closed, ChatGPT’s growth slowed down, but it became one of the fastest-growing applications ever.
OpenAI stated that customers with paid ChatGPT plans will be the first to have access to the GPT Store. The business wants to provide GPT developers with a method to make money from their customized AIs in the coming months.
At its inaugural developer conference in November, the Microsoft-backed firm (MSFT.O) revealed the GPT Store. Early in the month, it was supposed to go live.
But in December, OpenAI said in an internal document that it was still “making improvements” to GPTs based on user input, delaying the GPT store’s opening. The board of OpenAI unexpectedly removed CEO Sam Altman, who was later reinstated when staff members threatened to resign, thus setting the stage for the delay.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, OpenAI announced the debut of ChatGPT Team, a paid version of ChatGPT that businesses may purchase to allow their staff to use ChatGPT at work. Data submitted into the chatbot is kept confidential to the business since the ChatGPT Team separates company data. A monthly subscription to ChatGPT Team ranges from $25 to $30 per user.
