On Friday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman reversed a threat earlier this week to quit Europe if impending AI legislation becomes too difficult to comply with.

“We are excited to continue to operate here and of course have no plans to leave,” he tweeted.

Altman stated Wednesday that the EU’s draft AI Act was “over-regulating.”

EU industry leader Thierry Breton and other politicians criticized Altman’s threat to leave Europe.
