Local officials reported that a Russian missile hit an “invincibility point” for Ukrainian civilians, killing at least three women.
Local authorities reported four more civilian deaths overnight. In addition, president Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s administration reported two deaths from the Russian bombardment of Sumy in northern Ukraine.
The invincibility point attacked overnight in Kostiantynivka, eastern Donetsk, was one of the numerous shelters erected by authorities around Ukraine to offer power, warmth, water, and other essential utilities.
Emergency services photos from Kostiantynivka revealed the highly damaged one-story invincibility point surrounded by rubble. Mattresses protruded.
Emergency officials stated two males were injured, and one of the three deceased ladies was from Bakhmut; Russia’s conflict with Ukraine was fiercest.
“Rescuers rescued three deceased ladies from the rubble,” they said on Telegram. They reported one survivor.
Zelenskiy’s office reported damaged governmental, school, and residential buildings in Sumy.
The air force reported missile, drone, and other attacks on many Sumy villages.
Local officials in eastern Ukraine’s Chasiv Yar and Kherson confirmed two more fatalities.
Russia, which invaded Ukraine 13 months ago, did not comment. Reuters could not immediately verify the stories.
