Court records showed that Mark Pomerantz, the former prosecutor who oversaw the Manhattan district attorney’s criminal investigation into former U.S. President Donald Trump, delayed his deposition before a Republican-led congressional committee on Thursday.
On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil refused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s attempt to prevent Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan’s subpoena of Pomerantz.
They appealed. The U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals delayed Pomerantz’s deposition on Thursday so a three-judge panel could review the matter. The appeals court noted its order “reflects no judgment regarding the merits of the parties’ respective positions.”
Pomerantz’s closed-door Judiciary Committee deposition was planned for 10 a.m. EST (1400 GMT).
