On Monday, the chief executive officer of the American chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA.O.) said that the business will significantly extend its relationship with Vietnam’s leading technology companies and assist the country in educating talent for the development of artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.

Nvidia, which has already spent $250 million in Vietnam, has cooperated with prominent technology firms to apply artificial intelligence in the cloud, automotive, and healthcare industries, according to a document that the White House issued in September when Washington upgraded diplomatic ties with Vietnam.

“Vietnam is already our partner, as we have millions of clients here,” Jensen Huang, vice president and chief executive officer of Nvidia, said during his first visit to Vietnam, which took place at an event in Hanoi.

In addition to stating that Nvidia will help Vietnam’s artificial training and infrastructure, Huang stated, “Vietnam and Nvidia will deepen our relations.” The partners with which Nvidia intends to increase collaboration are Viettel, FPT, Vingroup, and VNG.

To discuss potential chip collaboration agreements, Nvidia was due to meet with Vietnamese technology companies and officials on Monday, according to a story that Reuters published the previous week.

At a time when Vietnam is attempting to grow into chip design and maybe chip manufacturing, Huang’s visit comes at a time when trade tensions between the United States and China present chances for Vietnam in the industry.

Nguyen Chi Dzung, the Minister of Investment for Vietnam, stated that the nation has been developing procedures and incentives to entice investment projects in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries. This statement was made during the event that took place on Monday.

After Dzung met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday, he also requested that Nvidia consider establishing a research and development center in the country. This request came in response to Huang’s suggestion that the company establish a base in Vietnam.
