During a presentation on Wednesday, Renault revealed that its long-standing partners Nissan (7201.T) and Mitsubishi (7211.T) have not changed their plans to invest in the electric car business Ampere, which the French automobile manufacturer owns.

Both Nissan and Mitsubishi have indicated that they want to spend up to 600 million euros and 200 million euros on the Ampere, which has been separated from the rest of Renault and is scheduled to go public the following year.

During an interview with reporters, Makoto Uchida, the CEO of the Japanese automobile manufacturer, stated that Nissan will become “a strategic investor” in Ampere. He also mentioned that the firm may employ advances derived from the electric vehicle unit in software and networking in other markets outside Europe.

According to the presentation, Nissan is also contemplating purchasing an interest in Renault’s operation related to the circular economy.

Nissan and Mitsubishi have chosen Renault’s electric vehicle (EV) unit, which highlights a strategic alignment that aims to use their respective capabilities for electric vehicle technology. This cooperative effort by both parties demonstrates a mutual commitment to utilizing expertise, resources, and technological advancements in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

Nissan and Mitsubishi’s investment in Renault’s electric vehicle (EV) unit is a significant turning point in the automotive industry, shifting towards more environmentally friendly transportation options. The formation of this strategic partnership is the embodiment of a concerted effort to propel innovation, broaden market impact, and pave the way toward a more environmentally friendly future in the transportation sector.
