GoPro has released an even more accessible camera called the “GoPro Hero4 Session,” and it’s being compared to the size of an ice cube.

The size, standing at 2.6 ounces, looks as if it were a computer web cam, and is much smaller than the Hero4 Black and the Hero4 Silver.

According to GoPro, the Hero4 Session is, “50% smaller and 40% lighter than other Hero4 cameras. Hero4 Session is the most wearable and mountable GoPro ever.”

Despite its size, the camera will still work with any of the previous accessories for the GoPro.

The size is intended to be the most wearable version of the camera yet. With its water proof capability, it can be attached to surf boards and bikes and can be placed with ease atop a helmet or on your chest. There are two different versions of the camera, the Hero4 Session and the Hero4 Session Surf.

The largest difference between the two is that the Hero4 Session has two different mounts, one that’s curved and a flat adhesive. The Hero4 Session Surf has a surfboard mount, FCS Plug mount, and a camera tether.

The camera runs at $399, the same as the Hero4 Silver.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Geoffrey A. Fowler, who tried the camera, wrote, “It isn’t the best-quality camera GoPro has ever made, but it’s so small and simple, I’m likely to keep using it.”

The camera requires little effort to get it working. With one button placed on the top of it, you can start recording video and photographs, and then shut it off with the same button when you’re done using it.

There is only one other button located on the camera which allows for users to see their camera’s battery life and change the camera display.

The camera will also make all the adjustments for you, including the lighting.

According to GoPro,

“Auto Low Light mode intelligently changes frame rates based on lighting conditions for optimal low-light performance, enabling you to move between bright and dark environments without having to adjust your camera settings.”

Using the mobile app also allows users to improve the image quality, as Fowler explained that the camera lacked.

Another improvement that can’t be found in the other GoPros is the Bluetooth and wifi connection. If you are too excited to upload the footage you have taken, you can connect your phone or tablet to the camera with the GoPro application, and post it to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, email and text.

The camera has the capability to record two hours of video in HD, and will take you around an hour and a half to completely charge it. This camera has the ability to go anywhere without the fear of damaging it, as you might be concerned with regular cameras and your smart phone.

According to Tech Crunch,

“This requires owners to connect their camera to a smartphone or GoPro wireless remote to change items like video capture resolution, frame rate or enable GoPro’s ProTune system that lets owner specify white balance and the like.”

If you aren’t interested in the app, there is also a Smart Remote control.

The camera goes on sale July 12, but online there is an option to be notified when sale starts, as well as updates on new technology from GoPro.
