E-cigarette companies are working hard to come out with new flavors for their users while also trying not to stir up controversy.
E-cigarettes have become increasingly popular because they are seen as a safe alternative to regular cigarettes. That is not to say they have no negative health effects or are not as addictive—they still have nicotine—they just are a less harsh form of smoking.
The exotic flavors that e-cig companies offer make this unhealthy habit seem more glamorous than it actually is. On iVape.net, they offer flavors such as blackberry lemonade, bourbon and cola, and cinnaswirl.

The consequences that come with these new and exciting flavors is that children hear about these flavors and think that they sound good, so they are more inclined to try it.
In June, the hearing, “Aggressive E-cigarette Marketing & Potential Consequences for Youth,” involved the Senate Commerce Committee as well as the president of blu eCigs, Jason Healy, and president of JOY, Craig Weiss.
According to CSPNet, “Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), questioned the youthful-sounding flavors for e-cigarettes. Healy’s company, for example, sells e-cigarettes that come in flavors like Cherry Crush, Peach Schnapps, and Pina Colada.”
The rush to get the hottest flavor out on the shelf is becoming tough because creators have to be careful about how their flavors are viewed by both young and old audiences.
These companies are not going to stop, they just have to be more careful, because as Weiss said, certain candy and fruit flavors, “drive regulators crazy.”
