Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kumar Dahal will visit India next week to boost ties with Narendra Modi.

The visit will “further strengthen the age-old, multifaceted, and cordial relations between Nepal and India,” Nepal’s foreign ministry stated Saturday.

Dahal’s first foreign travel since becoming prime minister in December 2022 is this one. Former prime ministers have visited India three times.
Prachanda (fierce) Dahal, a 68-year-old former Maoist rebel leader, will meet President Droupadi Murmu and other senior Indian officials.

Dahal’s visit continues the tradition of Nepali prime leaders visiting New Delhi after taking office, demonstrating the strong relations between the two cities.

Ujjain and Indore will be visited during the four-day trip that begins on May 31.
“The visit continues our ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy of high-level exchanges between India and Nepal. The Indian foreign ministry claimed bilateral relations had improved in all sectors recently.

Modi has visited Nepal five times since 2014, the last in May 2022.
