Musk Lauds Germany: “Deutschland Rocks!” in Aftermath of Arson at Tesla Plant
On March 13th, Elon Musk made a visit to Tesla’s European gigafactory located in Gruenheide, Germany. This visit followed a recent incident where an arson attack on a nearby electricity pylon resulted in a costly power outage, halting production at the facility. Despite this setback, operations at the factory had resumed, prompting Musk’s visit to assess the situation firsthand.
During his visit, Musk sported a black T-shirt with the words “We are (Giga) the future” emblazoned on it. As he exited the factory, he enthusiastically exclaimed, “Hey, Deutschland rocks! Dig in Berlin for the win!”, showcasing his support for the German operations of Tesla.
The arson attack, claimed by far-left activists, occurred on March 5th, causing a fire near the factory site. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the Tesla facility itself. However, the disruption to production is expected to result in significant financial losses for the electric vehicle manufacturer, with damages estimated to amount to hundreds of millions of euros.
Despite the challenges posed by the incident, Musk expressed gratitude to the Tesla Giga Berlin team and the local community for their efforts in restoring the factory’s operations. He acknowledged their hard work in a post on X, Tesla’s platform, stating, “Thanks to the hard work of the Tesla Giga Berlin team and support from the community, the factory is back online!”
Michaela Schmitz, the head of the works council at the plant, confirmed that production had resumed following a week-long outage. She reassured that the machines were restarted in a controlled and safe manner to allow the early shift to resume work.
While Musk did not disclose his specific plans during his visit to Germany, local media speculated that he might hold meetings with political leaders in the state of Brandenburg. This suggests a potential interest in engaging with key stakeholders to address concerns and ensure the continued success of Tesla’s operations in the region.
