As the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party prepares for a legislative election later this year, Family and Social Policy Minister Marlena Malag announced Poland will raise the minimum wage twice in 2024 to combat excessive inflation.

In February, inflation reached 18.4%, the highest in over 25 years. April inflation was 14.7%.
“The minimum wage next year will be above 4,200 zlotys ($1,015),” Malag told state-controlled PAP. Like in 2023, the minimum wage will rise twice in 2024, on January 1 and July 1.

From January 2023, the minimum salary was 3,490 zlotys and will rise to 3,600 in July.

The election is scheduled for October or November.
