Meta Platforms said on Sunday that it is piloting a monthly subscription service called Meta Verified.

It will enable users to verify their accounts with a government-issued ID and receive a blue badge. This is an effort to help content producers flourish and encourage community development.

Instagram and Facebook subscription packages, which will be available later this week, provide additional identity theft protection. It start at $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 per month on Apple iOS and Android.

This week, Meta Verified is rolling out in Australia and New Zealand, with future expansion to additional nations. Twitter said last month that Twitter Blue would cost $11 per month.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of the social media behemoth, has previously said that he intends to create a number of new products that would “boost the productivity and creativity of producers.”

He warns about the cost of maintaining the system for a large user base. Snap Inc.’s Snapchat and Telegram’s messaging software have launched premium membership services as a new revenue stream in the last year.
