Lizzo Denies Quitting Music Industry, Emphasizes Removal of ‘Negative Energy

US pop star Lizzo reassured her fans in a recent social media post that she is not stepping away from the spotlight anytime soon.

Last week, the Grammy winner posted “I quit,” expressing frustration at being targeted for her appearance and personality online.

However, in a new video, Lizzo clarified her statement, explaining, “When I say ‘I quit,’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention.”

Known for promoting body positivity, Lizzo has faced accusations, including claims of fat-shaming one of her dancers and allegations of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment by former dancers.

In her “I quit” post on Instagram on March 30, Lizzo voiced exhaustion from enduring criticism both online and in her personal life.

This message came shortly after her performance in New York City, where she played to a sold-out crowd that included three US presidents.

A lawyer representing Lizzo’s former dancers criticized her headline appearance at the event, citing the ongoing accusations against her.

In her latest Instagram video on Tuesday, Lizzo emphasized her commitment to her music and connecting with her audience.

“I’m not going to quit the joy of my life, which is making music and connecting with people, because I know I’m not alone,” she stated. “I’m not the only person experiencing that negative voice that seems louder than the positive.”
