According to a source, President Joe Biden’s team has chosen Julie Chavez Rodriguez, a White House senior adviser and deputy campaign manager of his 2020 presidential campaign, as his 2024 campaign manager.
The source claimed Rodriguez, the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs director, would accept.
Biden has yet to offer Rodriguez, the insider noted. However, the source said Rodriguez was Biden’s senior aides’ top pick after almost a dozen interviews.
A second source claimed Rodriguez had been a key West Wing ally for Vice President Kamala Harris, who has struggled to win over Washington. Rodriguez served in Senator Harris’s Senate office and was a 2020 presidential campaign senior staffer.
Democrat Biden intends to run again. He may announce Tuesday.
The 80-year-old president prepares for a tough campaign. His staff wants to base the campaign in Wilmington, Delaware, where Biden lives.
As he runs for re-election, Biden is anticipated to keep his closest advisers at the White House, making the campaign manager’s job difficult.
Anita Dunn, Steve Ricchetti, and his former campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon are anticipated to continue at the White House.
