Jessica Alba co-founded “The Honest Company” when she needed organic and user friendly products for her sensitive skin when she had her child.
As of now, she has built a very strong business out of her necessity and making products that adults and kids can use without having to worry about sensitive skin. However, the company seems to have made a small blunder with one of their concoctions.
The sunscreen that The Honest Company produces deemed ineffective. Angry parents are posting pictures of sunburns and rashes that the product has caused on themselves and their children alike.
The FDA tested product claims to be infused with a sun protection formula of 30. After the complaints online, the company responded by saying,
“The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously. Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA’s highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed (Shake Well. Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours).”
